• What is Acupuncture ?

  Acupuncture is part of traditional Chinese Medicine originating more than 2000 years ago. This Science of healing is now an established profession in Australia and in July 2012 entered into the health care system. Acupuncture has been shown throughout the ages that it is a safe and effective form of treating disorders.

• What qualifications to you need ?

  Your Acupuncturist should have a Bachelor Of Health Science (Acupuncture) and needs to be registered with the Chinese medicine Board of Australia with a certificate of registration (CMRB) in order to be able to practise. It also helps to accept Private Health Funds be a member of the Australian Acupuncture & Chinese Medicine Association (AACMA).

• Does Acupuncture Hurt ?

  Acupuncture is usually painless, it can at times be slightly uncomfortable at first, once you have had Acupuncture a few times and become accustomed to the sensation then most clients find the whole treatment as relaxing, it also depends on the individual and the presenting complaint.

• How Many Treatments will I need ?

  The number and frequency of treatments depends upon the duration (how long you have had the complaint for)and the intensity of the presenting complaint (i.e. Chronic or acute). At Matrix Acupuncture we have found that over the years 3 treatments is usually enough to know if the treatments will have a positive outcome so lets say: 1st Treatment then 4 days later the second treatment then 1 week for the next treatment.

   

• How Does Acupuncture Work ?

  Acupuncture works by inserting fine needles into specific Acupuncture points on the body to help regulate the flow of blood and Chi (energy) into the ares where there is pain and or disorder. • How Will I Feel After the Treatment !

  Most clients can feel very relaxed, even sleepy after an Acupuncture Treatment, most people usually have a blocked nose, I believe that this is caused by having your face in the face hole of the treatment table and you nose being the lowest part of your body! Some people feel a little light headed this will pass once you are up and walking around.
